Barn Owl Cottage – Brandsby, HOWARDIAN HILLS

Barn Owl Cottage is a pretty, stone-built barn conversion set in spectacular countryside on the edge of the Howardian Hills AONB, near the attractive village of Brandsby. Just over 10 miles from the historic City of York with its wealth of history and culture there is so much to discover in this beautiful area of North Yorkshire.

Owners Annie and Ken have created a real home from home for everyone who stays in the cottage, set all on the ground floor, with beautiful furnishings and a soft, restful colour palette really make this a special place to be. With two generous double bedrooms and plenty of living and outdoor space, it is the perfect cottage for gathering with friends or family.

The North York Moors National Park is just 8 miles, the stunning Yorkshire coast is 35 miles  and the Yorkshire Dales National Park is just over an hour away. There are so many exciting things to discover for adults and children alike.

For foodies there is an abundance of good pubs and restaurants in the area including 3 with Michelin stars and there is a wonderful selection of farm shops, country markets and local food producers to make the most of.

Millbrook – Robin Hood’s Bay, NORTH YORKSHIRE COAST

Wander through the cobbled lanes to discover this magical little cottage set in the idyllic fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay. Millbrook really is a picture postcard cottage, tucked away in old Bay and just a stone’s throw from the beach, shops, pubs and restaurants.

This Grade II listed period cottage dates back some 350 years, built in sandstone and set over three floors. Debbie and Jeff, owners of Millbrook, have lovingly refurbished the cottage without compromising its history and character, they have skillfully incorporated everything you could wish to find for a seaside escape.

Many of the old cottages in Bay are small in stature but full of character and old worlde charm, Millbrook epitomises everything that you would expect from a period cottage in the Bay, with the added bonus of a private outside terrace and a parking space in the village.

Millbrook is a very special place to be for owners Jeff and Debbie, having returned to Robin Hood’s Bay year after year on family holidays as a child, Debbie was keen to introduce Jeff to this magical village and it’s safe to say Jeff was equally smitten. Having created their special place to be they would like you to discover the magic too on your beautiful escape to Robin Hood’s Bay.

Seaves Mill – Brandsby, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Seaves Mill is a stylish retreat situated on the edge of The Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Yorkshire. The Mill can be found near the village of Brandsby just 13.5 miles north of the City of York. The perfect place for ramblers and cyclists to explore the dramatic countryside of the hills on foot or by bike and also within easy reach of the city to dive into the rich cultural and foodie scene in York.

The space has been designed with quality, comfort and decorative design in mind. It is set within beautifully landscaped gardens alongside the picturesque Mill stream. Seaves Mill has been converted into this inviting living space by avid gardeners and architectural antique dealers Phil and Jo whose passion can be seen throughout the property in exquisite furnishings and enchanting gardens. Their beautiful home and architectural antiques workshop can be found adjacent to the Mill and Phil and Jo will be happy to show you around the workshop if you would like to hunt out some treasures on your visit!

The Old Dairy – Thirsk, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Journey along a private lane from the pretty village of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe, near Thirsk, and make friends with the lambs and llamas in the fields as you approach The Old Dairy, set in the grounds of the owners home at Cleaves Hall. The cottage has been a real labour of love for owners Will and Natasha, with careful attention being paid to all of the important details, luxuriously appointed throughout, it is a homely cottage that exudes country charm.

From winter warming retreats, with a roaring log fire and evenings spent curled up on the sofa, to summer days accompanied by the heady fragrance of cottage flowers and beautiful eucalyptus. The Old Dairy is perfect for sharing with family and friends, or if you’re looking for a more intimate escape and an opportunity to reflect, then The Old Dairy is equally an idyllic haven for those craving a little me time.

Gormire Lake is a just a mile from the cottage, visitors report that the lake and Garbutt Wood, which encroaches right up to the shore, have an ‘otherworldly’ and ‘fairytale’ quality, in recent times it was named as one of the best wild swimming spots in Britain!

This is a beautiful cottage, surrounded by large gardens with stunning views across glorious Yorkshire countryside, it is an idyllic setting, it will be hard to steal yourself away.
