Christmas Breaks In Yorkshire

15th September 2021

As we draw nearer to the festive season, our thoughts turn toward how we’ll celebrate in 2021. Travel abroad is still complicated, but, unlike last year, this time we’ll have the option to gather and reunite with family and friends in the UK (if we wish and feel comfortable doing so). For many, this one might still be a little low key, involving only our very nearest and dearest. But whoever we choose to spend the holidays with, a Christmas break in Yorkshire is always a magical option.

Cottages for Christmas in Yorkshire

The run-up to Christmas is often especially hectic. Whether you plan on hosting guests or spending the season with your significant other, finding time to clean and prepare your home beforehand can be exhausting. An escape to a stunning period property in a charming town or village is the perfect solution. Most of our properties boast festive decorations, a Christmas tree and a wood-burning stove – your own ready-prepared festive hideaway.

Christmas Lunch in Yorkshire

We know how important food is at this time of year, particularly for families. Christmas lunch is an event, and for many people, the thought of cooking this meal away from home can be a concern. However, the kitchens in our cottages are expansive and very well-equipped – you’ll find everything you need to whip up the finest of feasts – and many have a sociable open-plan design, so everyone can be together.

Perhaps you’d rather leave the culinary efforts to someone else while you invest some time relaxing on the big day. Several of our properties come with the option of your own private chef. And we can arrange to stock up the fridges and cupboards with delicious goodies ready for your arrival. Or you might like to dine out during your stay. Yorkshire’s hospitality is renowned and you’ll find an array of cosy gastro pubs for hearty roast lunches.

New Year Escapes

Not everyone enjoys a buzzing festive season, and for couples needing some private time, peace and quiet can be especially valuable. What better way to see in the New Year, than relaxing in the hot tub, bubbles in hand at midnight? And of course, nothing quite beats a romantic crisp winter walk on New Year’s Day, in this most beautiful of counties.

Our portfolio of historic homes perfect for two includes a farm-based Dovecote uniquely styled by an interior designer, and a converted Hayloft on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. And with destinations such as York and Harrogate – famously popular for romantic days out – close by, you can spend quality time together, meandering through the picturesque cobbled lanes at your own pace.

Cottages for New Year in Yorkshire

For those planning a laid-back get-together with friends, a safe and simple option is to hire one of our cottages for new year. Yorkshire is easily accessible from the north and south – perfect for cross country reunions. And you’ll be in your own bubble (Beautiful Escapes has accommodation options sleeping up to 15 guests) with the ability to cater for yourselves in-house. No one needs to drive once you’ve arrived, and there’ll be convivial spaces for everyone to relax and catch up over a few drinks. The Hay Barn is one such property conducive to larger groups – its long dining table is well suited to an elegant New Year dinner party.

If you’re in need of a treat and some time away in the countryside or by the coast, consider booking a luxury cottage for Christmas. Yorkshire provides plenty of festive activities for all ages and interests; from festive fairs to stately home grottos, light installations, ice skating rinks, fairy trails, sleigh rides – even Santa-themed steam train rides and river cruises. As well as the chance to just switch off and unwind. Whatever you fancy, our personal concierge service can provide tailored recommendations for places to go and things to do, based on our wide-reaching expert local knowledge.
