Malton is the quintessential Yorkshire market town, traditional in the best sense and yet, with its new foodie scene, chic boutiques & festivals it’s also very modern and up to date. Located on the north of the River Derwent on the historic boundary between the North and East Ridings of Yorkshire.

The town is known as a top foodie destination with its famous food festival, monthly food market, Malton Cookery School, traditional food shops and ‘Made in Malton’ artisan producers. It was Antonio Carluccio who first called the town, “Yorkshire’s Food Capital!”. It also has a large number of excellent independent shops.

As well as Malton’s traditional weekly market every Saturday, there’s an exciting range of food-related events in the town, including the Malton Monthly Food Market (second Saturday of each month) – with cooking demos and live music – an annual Malton Food Lovers’ Festival (in May) and even a cookery school where you can dine in style at the ‘Chef’s Table’. Relive the dramatic experiences of life during World War II, visit nearby Eden Camp, a former Prisoner-of-War Camp turned modern history museum, other areas to visit include the famous North Yorkshire Coast, Castle Howard in the Howardian Hills AONB, and of course the North York Moors.
