Brownber House is a neighbouring property to the Hall, on the Brownber Estate. Set within a wonderfully rural location, overlooking the Howgill Fells, away from the crowds but still well-placed for a day out in the Lakes or the Dales. The house sleeps up to 8 people across 4 well appointed bedrooms, en-suite and house bathrooms are thoughtfully designed and luxurious.  The house has been recently renovated to a very high standard by Georgina Rose (former Soho House architect). It has a lovely flow with connecting kitchen and dining room and comfortable sitting room with log-burning stove.

There is a charming private garden to the rear of the property, with barbeque, fire pit and outdoor seating area.

For larger groups Brownber House can be booked with Brownber Hall accommodating an additional 15 people.

Brownber House is one of two properties owned by Peter and Emma in this stunning location. Brownber Hall is the other, it is the larger of the two properties, sleeping up to 15. The Hall has an easy, laid back feel that gives you that comforting feeling, the kind of place where you know that you really can treat it as your very own home.

Overview

Brownber house is a beautiful, spacious, Victorian farmhouse with a warm welcoming feeling, it is the perfect escape for kicking back, relaxing and enjoying all that this home away from home has to offer. With an eclectic mix of antique, vintage and contemporary furniture balanced with luxurious bathrooms, beautiful soft furnishings and linens you know it’s going to be one of those places you never want to leave!

Living Space

The entrance hall is warm and welcoming with a practical stone flagged floor, as soon as you step into the hall you get a real sense of the thoughtful design by Georgina Rose. The rooms all flow from one to the other yet at the same time there are separate spaces and with light flooding in from the large windows. You know that this is going to be a very special place to be.

Turning right from the hall is the sitting room, a large spacious and comfy room with stunning views across the countryside and to the Howgill Fells. With plenty of space to gather together on the comfy sofas, on chilly days light the log burner and cosy up to watch a movie.

Dining & Kitchen

Left off the entrance hall is the large dining room which also enjoys stunning views, it is a large open space which runs through to the kitchen, perfect for gathering and cooking up supper while catching up on the days activities.

The kitchen is beautiful, a cook’s dream! Filled with light this room invites you to get your culinary skills going with the wonderful range cooker, large island and everything you need for cooking up a hearty breakfast or a tasty supper, there’s even a window seat with pretty views out to the garden.

Boot-Room

An absolute essential in the country, a boot-room is so useful for kicking off muddy boots or drying off wet dogs!

Garden

There is a pretty garden, perfect for enjoying the sunshine on warmer days and with a BBQ too it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing day!

Exploring

Join the Coast-to-Coast path for some serious walking, explore sleepy country lanes by bicycle, enjoy a bracing plunge in one of the many local wild swimming spots or hop onto the wonderfully scenic Carlisle to Settle railway. Smardale nature reserve is just on your doorstep.
