REVIEWS

We love to hear back from our guests to find out their experience with Beautiful Escapes.

September 2025

We have all had a lovey time in Byland Abbey. The cottage and area were both delightful.
The surrounding area is so beautiful and there was lots to see and do too despite it having such a rural and slightly remote feel.
We liked it so much we would definitely consider going back to the same place.
Beautiful Escapes is from now on our list of places to look at as we were very happy with both properties.
Many thanks.
Kind Regards,
Laura

The Cottage was perfect, it worked really well for us all, a wonderful location right opposite the Abbey, so many places to visit nearby and really good walking straight from the cottage, we also visited York.

Thank you,

Claire, James and family

June 2025

This is a very comfortable house with good quality fixtures and facilities, with comfortable beds, good linens and efficient modern bathrooms.  The location is unbeatable, opposite the Abbey with good access to all the essential areas of the Howardian Hills and southern end of the Moors.  Access is good, along with ample parking.  The road is quiet and easily walkable to the two excellent local restaurants.  The booking process, information and access are all good.

We would and will, book again, thank you Beautiful Escapes, Simon and family.

Such a beautiful cottage, the setting is perfect, views across to the Abbey, great location, we had a wonderful time with our friends, lots of walking, visit to York, across the Moors and the coast, all spectacular. Excellent restaurants close by, such a treat.

May 2025
My friend Catherine and I had a most memorable and enjoyable holiday at The Cottage-so much so that it was hard to leave!
Tim and Lucy were perfect hosts and the cottage location ideally placed for exploring the area, in particular the stunning Byland Abbey ruins.  It is also ideally situated for the Abbey Inn where we had a fabulous meal. A short drive away, we enjoyed a very good Sunday lunch at the Durham Ox in Crayke.
The cottage was very comfortable and tastefully decorated, creating a relaxing place to unwind on an evening.  My friend and I have stayed in many cottages and this one certainly ranked among the best.
Booking and communication with Beautiful Escapes was easy and the information received was comprehensive. Would highly recommend Beautiful Escapes and The Cottage at Byland!
We are in the process of booking the same cottage for a week in September!
Many thanks indeed and kind regards
Deborah
