Tucked away in little lane off the cobbled square in the heart of Middleham in Lower Wensleydale, Kent Cottage is a stylish, boutique retreat for two. Dating from the early 1800s this old stone cottage features  stunning vaulted ceilings and lots of character. Recently renovated by owners Leanne and David who have taken great care to preserve the wonderful features of the cottage whilst incorporating everything you could wish for in a luxurious escape, underfloor heating, log fire, the comfiest of beds which was handmade in Yorkshire and a quaint, outside seating area, perfect for morning coffee and evening sundowner’s, and all set in one of the prettiest villages in the Dales.

Middleham is set in beautiful countryside where Coverdale and Wensleydale meet. Famous for its twelfth century castle, Middleham Castle has the largest castle keep in the North of England and best known for being the childhood home of Richard III.

Middleham has a strong history with horse racing for over 200 years, you’ll often see beautiful racehorses crossing the market square on their way to the gallops where you can see them power across the countryside, an exhilarating sight!

Kent Cottage is dog friendly with lots of wonderful walks from the door, two dogs are welcome to stay.

Kent Bedroom

Set on the ground floor, this beautifully appointed bedroom offers everything you need for rest and relaxation, with cosy underfloor heating, a luxurious double bed, handmade in Yorkshire and dressed in the finest crisp linens and with stylish touches such as the custom soft furnishings and Pooky lights. All you need to do is snuggle up and drift off to dreamland.

Living Space

The cottage has an upside down layout with the living space set on the first floor to take advantage of the spectacular vaulted ceiling with the original oak frame. Light floods the space, making it the perfect spot for resting by the fire with a favourite book, as the evening draws in snuggle up on the large cosy sofa and enjoy a movie night on the SMART T.V.

The country style kitchen is beautifully appointed and features locally sourced brass handles and granite work surfaces, with a SMEG oven and hob and everything you need close at hand it will be a pleasure to cook up your favourite treats here, for coffee lovers there’s a Nespresso too!

Terrace

There is a little seating area to the front of the cottage with a bench seat for two and pretty flowering baskets provide splashes of colour in the summer months making this the perfect spot for al fresco breakfasts and evening sundowners or simply sit back and enjoy the fresh country air all around.
