Cookery Schools in Yorkshire

5th May 2025

Sometimes holidays are the perfect opportunity to escape the monotony of daily routines and everyday obligations. Yet they can also be ideal time to try something new or improve on your skillset. Luckily, Yorkshire is home to a whole host of cookery schools offering classes to guide you through the process of making anything from an intricate three-course meal to a simple sweet treat. Now that we’ve got your attention, here are some of our favourites…

Arches Cookery School

Found on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and not far from the coast, the experts at Arches Cookery School have been sharing their passion with visitors for the last thirteen years. Sarah Muir is a classically trained chef who will be your mentor for the day. She has a wealth of experience working all over the world and an impressive 35 years of being chef to ‘rock royalty’ under her belt. The cookery school is based in a converted barn at Grinkle Park Farm, the working farm of Chef Muir’s brother, Richard. Family is at the heart of operations here with Chef Muir’s sister running the on-site eventing yard while her mother is responsible for growing the soft fruit, herbs and vegetables used in the dishes. Other ingredients are locally sourced and specially selected to showcase the best of North Yorkshire produce.
