Big Apple sits next to Wild Cherry and stands majestically in extensive grounds, as you approach along the private driveway you know immediately that it is going to be a very special place to be. These beautifully designed holiday homes have been created by owners James & Ali, from an outstanding conversion of the original buildings which, as the name suggests, is where the coaches and horses would have been kept in days gone by. Both homes have their own private gardens and can be booked separately or together for a larger group.

Big Apple is an exceptional home. It gives you that special feeling when you arrive that says, this is going to be just wonderful!

Step inside and take in the beauty of the stunning interiors, with generous, open plan spaces for gathering together, a cook’s dream of a kitchen, beautiful soft furnishings, carefully curated art by local artist David Stead is featured throughout.

With three spacious bedroom suites and luxurious bathrooms by Bagno Designs, there is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space.

Venture into the gardens and discover the beautiful Cedar Wood Hot Tub set in a private corner of the garden, the perfect spot for restoration and relaxation, there is a handy outdoor shower area too, equally as beautiful.

Just a short walk into the cathedral City of Ripon with it’s thriving market place, an array of independent shops and a wide variety of restaurants, pubs and bars. Situated on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales & Moors, Big Apple has everything you need for a Beautiful Escape.

Living Space

This is a beautiful, bright space that is full of light. It has a lovely, easy flow and has been cleverly designed so that everyone can be together, whether lounging on the vast sofa watching movies on the OLED T.V. or catching up on the day’s adventures while chatting at the kitchen island to the cook preparing supper.

On sunny days open up the bifold doors and bring the outside in, enjoy a special start to the day with breakfast on the terrace.

Kitchen & Dining

The kitchen will impress the most discerning of cooks. Designed by Chapel Kitchens in York it is luxurious yet practical, with a large island and everything you need for cooking up the tastiest of suppers. There’s a dual fuel SMEG Portofino oven, Quooker boiling water tap, wine fridge, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher too, of course!

The dining space is elegantly furnished with a lovely round table and chairs, a family piece, which holds fond memories for Ali & James. The chairs have been upholstered in one of the many fabrics designed by Kit Kemp for Christopher Farr Cloth that feature throughout the house.

Hackfall Suite

With views out across the garden this is a restful room to retreat to at the end of a day exploring Yorkshire. The carefully chosen fabrics and bespoke lampshades by Fenella Designs add pops of colour and interest. The bathroom, like all the bathrooms in the house, has sensor lighting which gently illuminates with movement, a wonderful detail that makes it feel extra special.

Calder Valley Suite

This suite is light and spacious, with beautiful greens in the furnishings echoing the gardens all around. The bathroom with separate tub, open shower and clever use of wood for the vanity basin all come together beautifully to create a spa at home experience, wonderful!

THE LOCAL AREA

Ripon is a cathedral city steeped in history and home to magnificent historical buildings and long observed traditions. You will find a trio of award winning museums and a gothic cathedral that dates back to the 7th century to explore.

The growth of the city through trade and manufacturing led to the building of a canal to link it to the navigable parts of the River Ure. Today this makes Ripon a delightful city to explore, with riverside and canal side walks that reach into the countryside and buildings that span the last thousand years. The city’s history is entwined with the church, both due to the cathedral in Ripon city centre and its proximity to the nearby Fountains Abbey.

Ripon also boasts an outstanding racecourse, a glorious stately home, a magnificent abbey and popular theme park. There are always great things to do in Ripon.

One of England’s oldest cities, the Hornblower who has blown his horn at 9pm every night for 1100 years to ‘set the watch’.

Georgian and medieval buildings surround the ancient market place including the grade II listed Town Hall in which can be found the newly opened Tourist Information Centre.

With a thriving market place and a magnificent cathedral, this beautiful little city will earn a place in any visitor’s heart.

A fantastic week in a fabulous property, an excellent location for Ripon and surrounds, with the highest specification, to truly make it a ‘luxury stay’. Well done to the owners James & Ali for creating a magnificent space to totally relax and switch off.

Thank you for a lovely week away. What an amazing property, so beautifully presented.

We recommend exploring the shops in Ripon, Fountains Abbey, & Brimham Rocks are a must.

We also found good fishing  nearby and great shops in Harrogate.

Five Stars from us!
